Iglesia Episcopal Santa Cruz Celebrates Transition

On Friday, July 26, 2013, Holy Cross, in Miami celebrated "The Last Dance" as the church transitions from one location to the next. Close to 100 people attended to congratulate and thank the parish whose building stood at the 36th Street location for many years. Along with bountiful food and drinks, the entertainment provided a party atmosphere for attendees to dance the night away. The history of the church was provided by Senior Warden Patricia Quintana, and Reverend Jose Ortez thanked everyone and asked for prayers and guidance. Father Alberto Cutie provided a message of transition to the parishioners in attendance that evening. He is excited to be hosting the parish at Resurrection in Biscayne Park, during the transition.

Sunday morning, July 28, 2013 the church held the "first dance" of the transition. Archdeacons Hobbs, Brutell, and Bazin were present to provide words of comfort, along with the passionate sermon given by the parish Rector, Reverend Ortez. Archdeacon Hobbs said that change is most certainly scary but it's also good. "When you follow your dreams and follow your faith...it's all good. Fear lets you see God's presence. You should be a little scared. Wherever you are now, just know it will be a little better."

Interim services for Holy Cross will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 11173 Griffing Blvd. in Biscayne Park beginning this Sunday, August 4, 2013. Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m.
