St. Mark’s Episcopal Church & School’s art teacher, Nicole Russell, held a volleyball clinic on August 19-21, 2014, to benefit the Mama Ada Foundation. The three-day clinic, for students in first through eighth grades, raised funds totaling $1,200. Nicole’s initiative, to build awareness and to raise funds for the foundation, was inspired by the Rev. Jim Cook, St. Mark’s, Palm Beach Gardens, and from the heartfelt stories she heard from people who have participated in mission trips to Kenya. Nicole’s generosity and hard work will positively impact those in need. She was joined by coaches Stephanie Binetti, Carissa Calderone, and Tony Russell; the Cardinal Newman High School volleyball team; and over 30 students who participated in the volleyball clinics. The Mama Ada Foundation, which sponsors the partnership between St. Mark’s and St. James Anglican Parish, helps pay school fees for high school students in Kebuson, Kenya, and also helps purchase seed for the poorest famers in this region.
